Senior Manager, Data Capability

SUMMARY

 

The Senior Manager, Data Capability is responsible for developing and managing StriveTogether’s data strategy, including providing data analytics and data management support as well as building the capability of Cradle to Career Network Members to use data for continuous improvement.  This individual should have experience in and will be expected to help community leaders make better decisions using data.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Data Analytics

  • Support communities to gather, organize, and simplify complex data sets from relevant education sources to use for continuous improvement to improve education

  • Support communities to clean and format data to be able to merge multiple datasets and configure for statistical analyses

  • Support communities to perform statistical modeling, regression analysis and other quantitative and qualitative analyses utilizing tools and applications in SPSS or similar statistical analysis tools; The ideal candidate will have:

    • Experience running crosstabs, writing variables, and executing statistical analyses

    • The ability to run multivariate analysis (e.g. regression, cluster, factor)

    • A thorough understanding of demographic weighting and analysis

  • Perform ad hoc analytical projects, including impact assessment, quantitative and qualitative analyses, statistical and predictive modeling

  • Develop reports for users, conduct analysis, interpret results, and clearly communicate research and reports to internal staff, partners, and the community

  • Interpret and comply with district, state and federal policies, regulations and laws specific to program evaluations, student testing and assessment, student privacy and confidentiality of data

 Data Capability-Building

  • Provide consultation and strategic assistance to partners on matters of data analytics, building their capability to use data for continuous improvement.  This includes building and delivering a curriculum for use with cradle to career partnership staff to help them help their partners make better decisions using data.

  • Support communities in navigating the politics of data sharing and transparency, creating the conditions for data interoperability

Data Management and Leadership

  • Manage the process to develop and maintain a comprehensive outcomes database for cradle-to-career partnership outcomes data, working to create and refine consistent data definitions, data collection, internal data management, and reporting/analytics to translate into useful visuals for different stakeholder groups

     

  • Collaborate with management to measure organizational performance, driving continuous improvement and pushing the organization towards new and improved ways to use data to improve processes

  • Convene and facilitate groups of data managers across the Cradle to Career Network to share learning and best practices in the fie

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • Technical/analytical consulting experience preferred
  • Commitment to building the data capacity of the community using a collaborative approach and helping stakeholders use data
  • Certification in Six Sigma or another quality improvement process, preferred
  • Proficient in Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • 1-2 years’ experience manipulating large relational databases to gather and analyze data
  • A working knowledge of statistical software (SPSS, R, SAS, STATA, or other) and evaluation techniques
  • Experience with GIS or mapping software is a plus
  • Knowledge of Tableau software is strongly preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Microsoft Access
  • Previous experience with educational data sets and evaluation a plus
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong time management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work as a team-player
